Louisiana Envirothon 2009
On April 25, partner agencies hosted the Louisiana Envirothon 2009 at Cade Farm in St. Martinville, LA. We had 18 teams registered for the event. Forty-nine young people were competing that day for their largest event ever. The event evaluations and verbal feedback we got indicate that all of the young people learned a lot and had a great day.
The Louisiana Environmental Health Association supported the 1st place team of 5 students of the Environmental Health category again this year by awarding $300 to the team to help with travel expenses and make it possible for them to compete in the national conference held August 2-8 at the University of North Carolina in Asheville, N.C. During part of that time, teams from around the country will attend classes and participate in field studies to increase their knowledge about land management, community restoration and environmental issues and help prepare them for the competition.
